The Ministry of Tourism will be hosting the 4^th International Conference on Responsible Tourism in Destinations in Muscat 10-12 October 2010.

The 4th International Conference on Responsible Tourism in Destinations has four themes

1. Tourism, Livelihoods, Local Economic Development and Human Resources
2. Responsible Tourism in a World of Finite Resources
3. The Responsible Tourist, Tangible and Intangible Heritage -
4. Responsible Destinations and Marketing 

We shall be exploring these themes internationally and regionally and considering Oman’s Responsible Tourism policy which is currently being prepared.  

The Conference is being co-chaired by Oman’s Tourism Minister, Her Excellency Dr Rajiha Abdul Ameer Ali and Professor Harold Goodwin from Leeds Metropolitan University’s International Centre for Responsible Tourism. Professor Goodwin and the UNWTO are also assisting the Ministry of Tourism in a review of Responsible Tourism policy, the outcomes of which will be discussed at the conference.

We are still finalising the programme and will be publishing it shortly along with details of the pre- and post-conference tours which will showcase some of the best of what Oman has to offer in Responsible Tourism. Places on the pre- and post-conference tours will be limited so please register now so that you receive further details as soon as they are published.
